When Covid started, we had our eyes on it. We have survived through 9/11 and the downturn of 2008/2009. Our quick response allowed us to stay afloat. We very quickly assessed our staff and pared down to a tight, capable number. While they consumed more of the budget, we kept our more senior people because we needed each member of our remaining team to be able to handle a client from beginning to end and we knew that their loyalty and dedication would be integral to the new world we were about to live in.
Next, Corinthian Events and Newport Hospitality created some focus groups. We formed a team that would learn everything they could about the best virtual platforms and which ones we would confidently bring to our clients as solutions for their virtual events. We created another team to develop all kinds of virtual experiences and a third dedicated to keeping their eyes on what was happening from a regulation standpoint around the globe with a tight focus on our destinations.
This post is part of the HopSkip Planner Spotlight Series where we celebrate the positivity and optimism shown by planners across the industry when navigating the turbulent waters that COVID-19 has brought the meetings and events industry. Keep an eye out as we release more stories like this over the next few months.
