Name: Kim Kopetz

Company Name: Opus

Job Title: President

Years of Experience: 24

How were you able to adapt during COVID-19 when the meeting and events industry got disrupted?

We were fortunate to have several employees with digital and broadcast backgrounds, as well as clients that were bold in moving to virtual very quickly. It was definitely a 'build the plane as you're flying it" few months, and having open and constant communication across our teams and clients was critical to our success.

As a planner, what was the number one thing you learned over the past year?

I think we all typically have a Plan A, B and C... but this year taught us you might need a A1, B1 and 2, and maybe go up to E! Contingency planning and being ready with attendee communications for all scenarios was key.

Is there anything you are changing in your planning process moving forward as a result of the pandemic?

I think our clients are asking more questions about what needs to truly be in person, vs what can be digital, and designing agendas and experiences more around audience needs and expectations.
