What is the history of the property and its origin story?
As one of the only new-build hotels in San Miguel del Allende (one of Mexico’s most popular expat destinations), Live Aqua Urban Resort San Miguel de Allende melds Old World colonial charm and modernity brilliantly. Designed by Mexico City’s trendsetting AoMa Estudio to the tune of $35 million, the chic hotel is the fifth property of Grupo Posadas’ Live Aqua brand. The largest hotel in town, Live Aqua brought many other firsts to its UNESCO World Heritage Site home when it opened in 2018. Among the property’s array of luxury amenities are three offerings you probably won’t find anywhere else in the city: an Asian street food eatery; a Casa Dragones tequila and cigar lounge; and a fine-dining restaurant by Mexican celebrity chef Eduardo Palazuelos. Indeed, San Miguel de Allende is an enchanting place, however, Live Aqua Urban Resort is a destination unto itself with its colonial-meets-avant-garde décor, modern art throughout, culinary diversity and generous outdoor spaces to enjoy the natural surroundings.
Although flanked by nature and the historic Presa del Obraje dam, Live Aqua Urban Resort San Miguel de Allende is only four blocks from the town’s main attraction: Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel or, as locals call the church, the pink wedding cake.
