How has your destination positioned itself to be the perfect location to attract groups to host their meetings/events over the last few years?

Boise's proximity to outdoor recreational opportunities is a major draw for meeting attendees who may wish to extend their stay or engage in team-building activities. Whether it's hiking in the nearby foothills, river rafting or exploring the Boise River Greenbelt, there are plenty of options for outdoor adventures. Boise consistently ranks as one of the safest and most livable cities in the United States. Its clean and well-maintained urban environment, along with friendly residents, contributes to a positive and comfortable experience for meeting attendees.
 
Events come in all shapes and sizes, which types of groups or meetings are the best fit for your destination and why?

Boise has hosted groups of up to 1,700 attendees at our meeting and convention facilities. The sweet spot for a Boise convention is 200-600 attendees. The group will take over the downtown Boise core, which is easily walkable to over 100 dining options and popular attractions.
 

Why do planners and their groups fall in love with your destination and what makes your location so unique?

We mentioned Boise is an outdoor mecca. Boise also offers a variety of cultural attractions, including museums, galleries, theaters, and performance venues, providing opportunities for attendees to explore and enjoy arts and culture during their downtime. Once you fly into Boise, you're ten minutes to downtown and won't need a vehicle to get around the extremely walkable and clean city.
 
What are the biggest differentiators that separate your DMO from all others?
 
Collaboration with Industry Partners: Visit Boise is in constant contact with local businesses, hospitality partners, and industry associations to create comprehensive packages and offerings tailored to the needs of meeting planners.

What surprises groups the most about your destination and why does it amaze them?

Many attendees are surprised by the natural beauty surrounding Boise. The city is nestled against the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and is bordered by the Boise River, offering stunning landscapes and outdoor recreational opportunities. The city's diverse arts and entertainment offerings often exceed visitors' expectations. Boise's reputation as one of the safest and cleanest cities in the United States often surprises visitors. The city's welcoming atmosphere and sense of community contribute to a positive experience for visitors, making them feel right at home.
 

Why is it so important for planners to include their DMO partners in their hotel RFPs? What are the most impactful value-adds your DMO provide to the planner during the RFP sourcing phase of the planning process?

Our goal at Visit Boise is to work in unison with clients, Boise Centre, and hotel partners to ensure seamless collaboration, effective communication, and attention to detail. The meeting planner communicates their event requirements and objectives to Visit Boise, including event goals. Visit Boise will provide the client with comprehensive information about the destination, including available venues, accommodations, transportation options, attractions, and support services. Together, the meeting planner and DMO identify the most suitable options to meet event objectives. Visit Boise will consult with the client through venue selection and contracting and be there every step of the way through execution.
